RELEVANT GOALS:
GOAL 4: Adequate, Well-Maintained and Well-Planned Public Infrastructure

SUMMARY

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Amec Foster Wheeler has been asked to provide a design concept report (DCR) related to the conversion of Sundance Water Reclamation Facility (SWRF) and re-use modifications. The SWRF is an existing sequencing batch reactor (SBR) wastewater treatment facility with a permitted capacity of 3.6 million gallons per day. The current plant has six (6) SBR basins, but only four are currently being utilized as SBRS. SBR tanks 1 and 2 are currently being utilized as sludge storage tanks. The consultant  will assess the condition of the existing plant, determine what the ultimate buildout capacity should be, whether to continue with a SBR treatment process or switch to a Bardenpho treatment process, and development recommendations that include a cost estimate and schedule for the current plant up through the buildout. The City has also asked the consultant to make recommendation on an effluent storage tank and pump system to be located at the SWRF site for the City’s re-use system.

BENEFITS:

To plan the most advantages use of the SWRF for the City future needs.

FUTURE ACTION: Council and staff; does this need to be communicated internally/externally?

Based on the DCR the city will be able to move forward with build-out of the Sundance Water Resource Facility.

FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT: Must be completed before submission

This project is part of the CIP and will have additional budgeting needed based on the review by the City of the DCR.
