ACTION / MOTION: (This language identifies the formal motion to be made by the Council)
Council to hold a public hearing and take action on Ordinance No. 01-18 extending and increasing the corporate limits of the City of Buckeye, Maricopa County, State of Arizona, pursuant to the provisions of Title 9, Chapter 4, Article 7, Arizona Revised Statutes and Amendments thereto, by annexing approximately 20 acres located 3/4 mile west of the northwest corner of Watson Road and Interstate 10 (I-10).

SUMMARY

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 

The applicant, Eric Rinestone of Buckeye 20, LLC, is proposing an annexation of 20 acres.  The site is located approximately 3/4 mile west of the northwest corner of I-10 and Watson Road.  The site lies in unincorporated Maricopa County. It is zoned Rural-43.  Upon annexation, the property will be classified as SF-43, Single Family Residential District., which allows one dwelling unit per acre and is equivelent to the Rural-43 zoning in Maricopa County.

 

The property meets the size and adjacency tests for annexation as described in state statute.  The annexation has been revieweed by all reviewing departments and no concernes were expressed.

 

After annexation, the petitioner will pursue a rezoning and prepare the site for single-family home development.

 

At the Februrary 20, 2018 hearing, two nearby residents asked questions about access, the expected development timeframe, and the type of development proposed.  They were informed that those items would be defined by the petitioner at a later date and that additional public comment opportunities would be afforded through those requests.


BENEFITS:
The annexation of the subject property will allow for development of more residential property within the City.
