Council ACTION REPORT

ACTION / MOTION: (This language identifies the formal motion to be made by the Council)

Council to take action on Resolution No. 43-18 ratifying the submission of a grant proposal to the Tohono O'odham Nation for funding to support the City of Buckeye Fire Department's Community Paramedicine Program, and authorizing the City Manager or the City's Fire Chief to execute and deliver the resulting grant agreement on behalf of the City.

RELEVANT GOALS:
GOAL 3: A Well-Planned Urban Community

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 
Funding received from any resulting grant award will go toward (1) mobile computer terminal; (2) blood sugar testers; (3) blood pressure monitors; and (4) smoke alarms in the total amount of $6,700. 

BENEFITS:
If this grant is awarded, it will allow the program to purchase much needed home testing equipment (blood pressure and blood sugar) and smoke alarms for our low-income patients.  Additionally, if we were to gain a MCT it would benefit our community Paramedics while at and enroute to home visits in Buckeye.

FUTURE ACTION: Council and staff; does this need to be communicated internally/externally?

Resolution No. 43-18  will (1) ratify the submission of the grant proposal; (2) authorize the acceptance of any resulting grant award and (3) authorize negotiation and execution of the necessary agreement; no later than September 30, 2018.  The Fire Department’s Project Management Asst. will ensure that all required documentation is submitted within the established deadlines and that the grant award is managed in accordance with the terms set forth in the resulting subgrantee agreement.
