PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City's pavement preservation plan is designed to ensure that all of our roadways are in the best possible shape for the benefit of the traveling public. It is a creative process that is a combination of crack-sealing, and surface treatments to ensure that we get the maximum life out of our roads with the least possible cost. By regular application of various surface treatments, we avoid the more costly repairs and reconstructions that occur with delaying preservation applications. Our program would be analogous to good dental hygiene: brushing and flossing, ensures that more invasive treatments such as root canals and implants are avoided, so crack sealing and surface treatments avoid overlays and reconstruction for many, many years.
The attached roadways will all have a rubberized crack seal compound/mastic to seal existing cracks on the road prior to any type of road surface treatment. Various types of road treatments will be used throughout the City (LMHSS- Latex Modified High Solids Sealer, PMM- Polymer Modified MasterSeal, MTR- Modified Tire Rubber, Micro Seal – Fine aggregate based sealer, slurry Type II – Medium aggregate based sealer, Mill/Pave- Remove and replace existing asphalt with new asphalt) depending on condition and is listed on the attached listing of roadways. This surface treatment would be applied to the entire road surface. Road striping and markings will be done according to the City’s/M.U.T.C.D. striping standards. All work performed in Community Facility District (CFD) communities will be funded from the General Fund, unless funds become available through CFD budgets.
